Australia charts post-COVID course with vaccines; Victoria to tighten hotel quarantine rules7th February 2021
“The signs are positive but this is not a time for complacency,” Mr Foley told reporters on Sunday morning.
“Around 50,000 have come forward to get tested over the last few days, and it is reassuring that none of those in the community have returned a positive result, but there is still some way to go.”
Health officials have now expanded the man’s close personal and household contacts from 17 people to 21.
“Through an abundance of caution, we have expanded those 17 primary close contacts, with a further four people, who have more tangential but nonetheless real contact with his household,” Mr Foley said.
“It is reassuring that all those tests continue to be negative, but I also want to point out, that’s now well and truly 1,100 people out there isolating across the state… so we can all stay open.
“They are the real heroes of the response over the last few days.”
Following interviews with hotel quarantine workers and reviews of rostering at the Grand Hyatt, the number of close work contacts of the Noble Park man has dropped by 112 people to 645 primary close work contacts.
When it comes to the number of people isolating after visiting one of the 14 exposure sites the hotel worker visited while potentially infectious, that has increased to 485.
Mr Foley said he would expect the number of public close contacts “would continue to rise somewhat over the rest of the weekend”.
