Boy, 5, dies after riding his bike across Townsville driveway
A five-year-old boy has died after he was hit by a car in north Queensland.
The boy was struck down while riding his bicycle along a footpath with his father, police say.
The father and son had been riding along Ross River Road just after 7.30pm Tuesday when a car tried to turn out of a driveway.
Members of the public rendered first aid while an ambulance rushed to the footpath.
Paramedics took the boy to Townsville Hospital but he died a short time later.
Police were appealing for anyone who had dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
