A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for much of NSW as the Bureau of Meteorology warns people in places such as metropolitan Sydney, Wagga Wagga, Tamworth and Lismore to be on alert for heavy rain.
“Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours,” the bureau said on Wednesday afternoon.
“Locations which may be affected include Lismore, Newcastle, Gosford, Sydney, Wollongong, Armidale, Orange, Canberra, Goulburn, Tamworth, Moree, Dubbo and Wagga Wagga.”
Lismore in the Northern Rivers region recorded 92mm in two hours to 1.15pm on Wednesday.
