Homeless man sleeping in dumpster tipped into back of garbage truck
A man has been rescued from a garbage truck and taken to hospital after falling asleep in a skip bin that was collected in Victoria’s north on Friday morning.
The man, believed to be homeless and in his 30s, was sleeping in the industrial bin at a St Vincent De Paul’s op shop in Kerang when the bin was emptied into the truck about 7.40am.
The garbage truck driver went about 200 metres down the road on Victoria Street when he heard screams.
Kerang Country Fire Authority captain Ramon Steel, one of the six firefighters involved in the rescue, said the team guided the man down using a ladder.
