Man in custody as police dig up Bracken Ridge yard in murder investigation
Cadaver dogs led police to the site but charges had not been laid and police said no evidence had been found during the ongoing dig.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Hogan said Ms Brooten was with a 42-year-old Bracken Ridge man for “a year prior to her disappearance.”
A police spokesman later confirmed that man had been taken into custody in relation to the investigation.
“What I can tell you is that he’s provided that he last saw her around that July 2018 period as well,” Senior Sergeant Hogan said.
“The dogs have given us an indication and what we do from there is we explore that through the excavation and the result of that won’t be known for some time,” he said.
“The excavation as you can imagine will take sometime and as that information comes to light and if we can share it, we will.”
Police were calling on anyone with information about Ms Brooten or her vehicle found at Scarborough last July to come forward.
Senior Sergeant Hogan made a particular call to online gamers for any information.
“Police have spoken to a number of Ms Brooten’s friends and associates and have learnt that she was heavily involved in online gaming,” he said.
