Second teen charged after guard bound in machete hold-up
A second teenager has been charged after allegedly holding up a chemist with machetes and binding a security guard’s wrists before running off with prescription medication.
Police say the assailants stormed the 24-hour Ascot Vale Pharmacy on Union Street in Melbourne’s inner north-west with machetes, about 11.10pm last Thursday.
It’s alleged two workers and a security guard were threatened in the armed robbery while a customer hid in the staff room behind the store.
Police say the security guard, a 22-year-old St Albans man, was bound by the wrists before the offenders ran off with prescription medication and cash.
