WA lockdown to end, UK COVID strain found in Victoria hotel quarantine worker, Victoria restrictions reimposed, 2021 Australian Open to go ahead, national cabinet to meet5th February 2021
“Our quarantine is our last line of defence when it comes to protecting Australians.”
Ms Palaszczuk reiterated her calls to move quarantine hotels away from city centres.
“So you can only put options on the table,” she said. “It’s up to the Prime Minister to come to the party and help. It should be a fifty- fifty partnership here.”
While NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian has dismissed calls to move quarantine systems, Ms Palaszczuk remains firm on the subject.
“I think you need everyone to be on the same page and I think if Gladys had an outbreak like we have had in other states, she might change her mind as well,” she said.
“So let’s have an open and frank conversation about it because you need everybody to sign up to it otherwise it’s not going to work.”
Ms Palaszczuk also said everyone needed to get their share of the vaccine rollout.
“It’s not just for NSW people. It’s got to be shared for everyone,” she said. “Our most vulnerable need to get the vaccine first. We have to protect them.”
