A man has reportedly been hit by “five tonnes of material” at a workplace west of Brisbane, emergency services say.

Paramedics, including critical care paramedics, are on the scene treating the man, who has suffered chest and back injuries at Atkinsons Dam in the Somerset region.

Paramedics are treating a man at a workplace in Queensland’s Somerset region.

Emergency services were called about 12.30pm on Friday to Atkinsons Dam Road.

“He sustained the injuries from five tonnes of material landing on him … a rescue helicopter has been called,” a Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman said.
