Young pilot dies in second Queensland plane crash in a week

A young pilot has died in a plane crash in southern Queensland, the state’s second fatal aviation accident in a week.

In the most recent incident, a 20-year-old man died after his plane crashed on Aldville Station near Cunnamulla, about 800 kilometres west of Brisbane.

The crash was reported about 3.20pm on Sunday, with the police service’s Forensic Crash Unit as well as the Civil Aviation Safety Authority investigators to return to the scene on Monday.

The pilot was a local and the plane’s sole occupant. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
